Title of the Practice: Computer Empowerment Initiative

Objectives of the Practice:

To provide students with practical computer skills, enhance their technological proficiency, and integrate specialized courses alongside regular academics.

The Context:

Established in January 2023, the Computer Lab features 42 computers generously donated by UL India Private Limited, aiming to bridge the technological gap in rural Karnataka.

The Practice:

A dedicated computer instructor guides students through courses such as Microsoft Office and Tally, offered at a nominal fee alongside their standard classes. This initiative broadens their skill set and fosters practical knowledge.

Evidence of Success:

Examinations are conducted, and certificates are issued to successful candidates, validating their proficiency and recognizing their achievements. The lab’s impact is evident in the active engagement of numerous students.

Problems Encountered and Resources Required:

While the initiative has thrived, potential challenges and necessary resources for further enhancement should be identified and addressed.

Title of Practice: Cultural Preservation through Music Programs

Objectives:

Promotion of Local Music Traditions: Preserve and promote the rich musical heritage of the local community.

Educational Outreach: Engage young students in cultural activities, fostering an appreciation for traditional music.

Collaborative Partnerships: Strengthen cultural ties through collaborations with organizations like SPICMACAY.

Context:

The music department of the college recognizes the importance of preserving and promoting local music traditions as a means of cultural enrichment. This initiative aims to create a platform for students to connect with their cultural roots through musical expressions.

Practice:

Sangeeta Koumudi Pravesha Examination: Conducting regular examinations, such as Sangeeta Koumudi Pravesha, to assess and encourage the musical skills of young students, with nearly 50 participants in recent sessions.

Masada Sangeeta Program: Regular organization of Masada Sangeeta programs, providing a recurring avenue for students and the community to showcase and enjoy traditional music performances.

SPICMACAY MoU: Maintain a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SPICMACAY, facilitating cultural exchange programs, workshops, and performances that align with the college’s cultural preservation goals.

Evidence of Success:

Increased participation in Sangeeta Koumudi Pravesha examinations demonstrates growing interest and engagement in local music traditions.

The consistent organization of Masada Sangeeta programs serves as evidence of an ongoing commitment to cultural events.

Successful collaborations and events facilitated through the SPICMACAY MoU contribute to cultural enrichment and diversity on campus.
